Workshop
Everything you need to know about AI lie detection
Workshop description
Truth be told, everyone engages with some form of deception on a daily basis. But while in most interpersonal scenarios the consequences of lies are trivial, in other contexts, ranging from online reviews to misinformation, deception detection is paramount. Automated computational methods using AI are opening new avenues in this regard. But how do these tools actually work, and how reliable are they? In this interactive workshop, researcher Riccardo Loconte offers a glimpse behind the curtain of AI-based lie detection. Through a series of hands-on stations, attendees will work in small groups, experiment with real examples, and test AI tools themselves. Participants will explore how modern machine-learning models attempt to identify deceptive content, what they get right, and where they (still) fail.
